What photos work best for the Smalltown Boy AI video?
Two photos, one clear face in each, both looking roughly at the camera, in good light, at least 512×512 px. That's 90% of a good result. Group shots, sunglasses, heavy filters and faces smaller than a thumbnail are what break it.
The checklist
- One person (or one pet) per photo — the model keeps one face from each
- Face turned toward the camera, eyes visible, no sunglasses
- Even light, no hard shadow across the face
- Shoulders in frame: the dance uses the upper body
- Minimum 512 px on the short side; phone photos are fine
- No heavy beauty filters or AR effects
For cats and dogs
Head-on with both ears visible works best. A cat looking up at the camera from the floor is the classic winner. Avoid photos where the pet is curled up or seen from behind — the model needs a face to scream with.
Old and scanned photos
Old prints and scans work if the face is sharp. Crop in so the face fills at least a quarter of the frame, and avoid photos with creases across the eyes. Black-and-white is fine; the video keeps the retro look anyway.
Two people in one photo?
Upload it twice and crop differently? Better: crop each person into their own image first (any phone gallery does this), then upload the two crops. Each photo should contain exactly one face.
FAQ
- Can I use a photo with two people in it?
- Crop it into two single-face photos first. One face per upload.
- Does it work with glasses?
- Regular glasses yes; sunglasses hide the eyes and often fail.
- What about a baby or a toddler?
- Yes, as long as the face is clear and facing the camera.
